  • Horse & Owner in Harmony

A Step Above Stables has been a wonderful experience for me and my Buddy. I am a fairly inexperienced horse owner. Buddy is my first horse and I have had him now for a little over a year. When I first got him, he lived with me in a small pasture out back. He was quite a handful. Bucking, shying, and throwing me off were his favorite things to do. He was also very barn sour.
After boarding Buddy at A Step Above, he completely changed. He is the most reliable, amiable fellow you’d ever want to meet. He’s still full of fun and energy, but in an enjoyable way. He is very happy and well taken care of. Thanks to all who care for him, my Buddy just gets better and better.     Christie Wiggins

  • A Great Place To Be

jodyWe are enjoying ourselves at Step Above Stables so much!!! Curtis, Jan and the girls are wonderful and make sure we always leave wanting to return as soon as possible. The other boarders are a warm, fun group of folks!

Our horses are well taken care of and we love
them a bunch. We bought them both from Step Above Stables. It is a super place to purchase a horse or take a trail ride…we did BOTH!!!!       The Underhills

  • Say Hello To Our Newest Addition!!

horses-feb1Say Hello to Moses Brown /aka/ Brownie. Once again, I have fallen victim to ANOTHER irresitible face. Some of you already know that I have a growing menagerie! My husband knows how much I love animals, & he knows I cant say no most of the time(well, never actually). He brought this little guy home last week for Valentine’s Day. What’s a girl to do? Brownie is  the product of a Blue Heeler & Red Heeler, so I guess you could say he’s a Purple Heeler??  Our working dog CoCo is getting up in years, and is ready for retirement this year. CoCo has worked faithfully for us for nearly 10 years & thank the Lord, he’s never been injured. We are hoping Brownie will follow in COCo’s footsteps. Who knows, he might just stay in and be spoiled!

  • Thank You Susan!! You are super thoughtful!!

Kristen & Roy(He’s in the background sleeping on the job as usual) & Roy’s Memorial
I want to share a story with you, & take the time to thank a very thoughtful person. I have been so busy & I rarely get to see her , I wanted to take this opportunity to say Thank You Susan for the statue of ROY.
Nearly 2 years ago, Kristen found an old beaten, bloodied & featherless Rooster at the foot of the driveway. She brought him to the barn, cleaned him up , fed him, gave him a place to sleep . Within a few months we had a gorgeous Rhode Island Red. Roy just kinda  hung around and never left. You could usually find him begging for corn, or sleeping in the background of our horse pictures! Kristen loved him to death. She convinced us we needed to get him a hen so he wouldnt be so lonley. He manged to have 1 batch of babies!(Thanks Kristen! LOL) Roy wasn’t much of a hands on Rooster, & he could get quite contrary,  but Kristen could pick him up & love him all day long. She saved him from certain death & he  knew it. She has such a kind & loving heart for animals! If anyone could tame a crazy rooster, it had to be Kristen.  Sadly we lost Roy a few months ago, he was an old man when he came to us, but thanks to the caring hearts of others, he was able to live the rest of his life in comfort. (Like every other SPOILED critter at this farm)
Susan knew how much Kristen & others here cared about that silly old Rooster, & she brought us a beautiful statue in honor of Roy. So next time you stop by, you’ll see Roy waiting to greet you at the barn like he was everyday! We miss him.
Thank You Susan! You are a very special person! We appreciate you!!
    Jan, Curtis, & Kristen
