• Why is this Horse Smiling?

One of our Boarders, Mike Stoner & his Horse Strawman

We know why Strawman is smiling! He really loves living at A Step Above Stables.  We have had such a great experience with the whole package deal at A Step Above. As Curtis said when we were considering a horse to buy and board.. it is like a family here and that was very accurate. We have enjoyed so many new people and have learned so much about the care of horses in general. So, the bottom line is when the rider is happy, the horse smiles!

Showing his support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2008

I want to introduce you to Sammuel Addams, our minature miracle. He came to us last spring  just by chance. I immediately fell in love.( I have a bad habit of that)  But sometimes you just can’t say no.I didn’t need another pet, but he was in  bad shape & needed to be rescued He seemed so sad.His coat was terrible, he was underweight, his feet were awful, he was just a mess. My husband (being the sweet & wonderful husband that he is agreed we’d keep him at least until he got back to good health) put him on a special diet, fixed his feet & made sure his teeth were ok. I took him to the Pony Spa and got him pampered. After a few months of serious pampering, combing, lovin ,&  LOTS of cookies ,I had a  brand new pony! I was hooked ! He has alot of heart & I fell in love.Needless to say, he’s here for life. His coat right now is the thickest FUZZIESTsoft hair you’ll ever see on a MINI ( Not that Im partial or anything). He’s wooly!

Our boarders here keep Sammi spoiled rotten(you know who you are,GALE!). He chatters at you if you pass by without tossing him a cookie! Thankfully his disablities seem to improve everyday! It’s amazing what a little TLC can do. I took him out this week for his walk  & before I knew it he took off! He decided to buck, kick up his heels & act silly, he even cleared a stump in the front yard! I couldnt believe it.His newest thing is chasing our son Jeremy around his lot at feeding time leaping over small stumps & bucking like a big horse. If you stop by, maybe you’ll get lucky & you can witness this first hand. I will have new pictures of Sammi in his wooly winter coat soon. In this picture Sammi was showing his support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month last October. Stay Tuned for SAMMI”S BLOG, a monthly update on the happenings around the farm. Sammi can’t wait to hear your comments. He has recently launced his own Cookie Recipie “SammyDoodle’s”  & they are soooo good! Anyone that would like his recipie, just let me know! He loves to share. We invite everyone to stop by and meet Sammi, he LOVES the attention!
